Domestic EPC
A Domestic Energy Performance Certificate (DEPC) is a legal compliance document that provides information about the energy efficiency of a residential property and is required whenever a property is built, sold, or rented. An DEPC represents the energy efficiency on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and includes recommendations for improving the properties energy performance.
A Domestic Energy Performance Certificate (DEPC) is a legal requirement whenever a property is built sold or let. Since October 2008, legislation has made it illegal to market a property without a valid DEPC.
What Does An DEPC Measure?
A DEPC measures the energy efficiency of a building, which is represented on a scale from A very efficient to G least efficient. A DEPC contains information about:
- A properties energy use and the typical energy costs.
- The properties energy efficiency rating and what it has the potential to be.
- Recommendations about how to reduce the energy use and save money.
Do All Building's Require a DEPC?
No, not all buildings require an EPC, buildings that may be exempt from the legislation include:
- Temporary buildings that will be used for a period of less than 2 years
- Residential/holiday accommodation that is used/rented for less than 4 months a year
- Listed buildings
- Places of worship
- Some buildings that are due to be demolished
Compliance365's Experience
Compliance365 has experience providing both domestic and commercial EPC’s in a diverse range of sectors ranging from retail, industrial units, hotels, pubs, offices, shopping centres, care homes and hotels.
Our team of Energy and Carbon Consultants also offer advice and guidance on all our certification services. Where a low rated EPC is generated we are able to produce an EPC review. An EPC review provides details of how the EPC could potentially achieve a higher rating and the implementations required to achieve this.
